Young Adult Advocacy

Do you want to become more involved in your community?

Are you interested in raising awareness of reproductive justice issues in West Michigan?

Are you a young adult who wants to make your voice heard?

JOIN JET (Justice Engagement Team)!

JET is a PPWNM advocacy group based in Kent County for young-adult volunteers who are interested in focusing on reproductive justice issues.

JET offers substantial opportunities that go beyond traditional volunteering to train and educate young adults in policy, organizing, and grassroots activism. JET participates in various campaigns throughout the year to raise awareness about, and create support for, Planned Parenthood’s priority issues including:

  • Prevention First legislation
  • Get Out the Vote
  • Get Yourself Tested (GYT) Month
  • Sex Education Month
  • Many More!

JET members sign a one-year commitment and agree to attend one meeting and participate in one advocacy activity per month. Meetings are held at least monthly at PPWNM Administrative Headquarters. At meetings members can expect to: brainstorm and generate ideas for grassroots activities, schedule their volunteer commitments for our upcoming advocacy activities, prepare for events, and/or receive training/education on various reproductive justice issues.

Advocacy activities can include:

  • Hosting informational tables at events
  • Phone banking
  • Canvassing
  • Lobbying in Lansing
  • Other community outreach

If you are interested in joining JET you must submit an application. Members are selected through an interview process. Call our Administrative Headquarters in Grand Rapids at (616) 774-7005 or e-mail for more information.
