In The Beginning

Margaret Sanger gained world-wide renown, respect, and admiration for founding the American birth control movement, and later, the Planned Parenthood Foundation of America.

Planned Parenthood Association of Utah

Since 1970, Planned Parenthood Association of Utah has shared Sanger's vision. We have established a reputation in our community as a premier provider of quality family planning, education and reproductive health care for all Utah residents.

In our first year of operation, PPAU operated one clinic. Proudly providing services out of a mobile trailer, enabling PPAU to provided services to 1,171 people.

In the years to come PPAU was to be challenged with funding, legislative, and community acceptance issues. With strong leadership and dedicated staff members, each issue was faced head-on. Although we did not always reach our ultimate goals, we kept on trying with the true Planned Parenthood "Margaret Sanger" spirit.

To this day, it is still PPAU's mission "To promote responsible sexual behavior and to reduce the physical, emotional and social costs of unplanned and unwanted pregnancy." With this in mind PPAU now operates eight health care clinics and has many contract rural providers throughout Utah.
