Planned Parenthood's Teen Peer Education Program is an award-winning, comprehensive teen pregnancy prevention program. Developed in 1995, the program provides 38 hours of education, in collaboration with local youth-serving organizations. The teens, 12-17 years of age, learn about abstinence, birth control, communication skills, dating and relationships, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections. The program promotes sexual responsibility, increases teens’ interpersonal skills, and provides accurate and age-appropriate information about sex, sexual health and risk reduction.
