A note from our Co-Chairs
I am proud to be a woman, wife, mother, daughter, friend and educator. I am also proud to be a supporter of Planned Parenthood and the services it provides for both women and men. During times of so much uncertainty, high unemployment and rising healthcare costs, it is comforting to know that we can still depend on Planned Parenthood’s mission of providing comprehensive reproductive healthcare services, family planning and, reproductive prevention and educational services for teens, parents and the community. All of which are delivered in a caring, affordable, non-judgmental environment.
As a mother, making sure your children are prepared for their teenage years and adulthood can weigh heavy on your heart. You hope only the best for your children and hope they make wise life decisions. Planned Parenthood helps to make this possible for our teenaged women and men across the country and around the world. By empowering young people with the ability to make educated and healthy decisions regarding reproductive services, Planned Parenthood helps our young people capture opportunities and achieve success in all facets of one’s life.
Having been an educator for over fourteen years, the most important aspect of preparing young people to become intelligent, active, healthy, caring, productive human beings is education. Planned Parenthood has been accomplishing this for many, many years. So, an earnest thank you to Planned Parenthood, for making so much, so possible, for so many.

Why do I support Planned Parenthood?
It’s simple. Planned Parenthood was there for me when I didn’t know where else to go.
As a high school student growing up in rural Missouri, there were not many places to turn to for birth control services. Although it meant driving about an hour one way, I found my way to a Planned Parenthood health center for the affordable prevention and education services I needed as a teen.
While in college, when my parent’s health insurance coverage for me expired and later when my first post-graduation jobs did not provide health insurance, I could, and did, always count on Planned Parenthood to be there for me. Their sliding fee scale for low-income uninsured patients kept me healthy and safe.
In my early 20’s, I realized I wanted to give back. I served as a volunteer escort to help protect patients entering the center from the loud and harassing anti-abortion protesters surrounding them. And now as an adult, I am thrilled to be a part of FriendsbyChoice at such a critical period of time for Planned Parenthood.
The health centers that were available to me as a teen in need are now threatened by funding cuts. The rights and privacy of young adults – the same rights and privacy I was assured 20 years ago – are now constantly targeted by over-reaching state legislators. Planned Parenthood is under attack every single day. But working together, we can do something about it.
Planned Parenthood was there for me when I needed them and I am there for Planned Parenthood now when they need us. Will you join me and the many others who are standing with Planned Parenthood by becoming a member of FriendsbyChoice today?
