Planned Parenthood is licensed (Texas License #008246) by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to provide abortion care. We also meet the standards set by Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the National Abortion Federation. We are proud of the high-quality, nonjudgmental, confidential and caring services we provide our patients.
Our caring and professional staff includes physicians that are board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other licensed/certified staff.
We offer two abortion care options: the abortion pill or in clinic abortion care. The abortion pill is available through the seventh week (up to 49 days since the start of your last menstrual period). In-clinic abortion care is available through the 13th week. Planned Parenthood wants to ensure that our patients are fully informed about abortion care and know what to expect. We provide personalized information and education. A pelvic exam, ultrasound and lab work are also done. After-care instructions, including a 24-hour emergency contact number are provided. A follow-up visit to Planned Parenthood is scheduled before you leave the clinic.
Planned Parenthood staff is here to support you with services and information about abortion care. We understand that considering having an abortion may be difficult. Each woman's experience is unique. You are not alone. Abortion is a common procedure for women worldwide. This website provides limited information about abortion care at Planned Parenthood. Caring and professional clinic staff will provide you with detailed information and answer any specific questions you may have.
Important note: People sometimes confuse the abortion pill with Emergency Contraception (EC, "morning-after pill.") They are not the same. EC is a high dose of birth control used within 120 hours of unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. Click here to read more about Emergency Contraception.
