Teen Peer Educators

What's a Teen Peer Educator?
Only the coolest teens in town!  PPSD Peer Educators learn all about sexuality from experts!  They get to talk with kids their age about important stuff like abstinence, condoms, birth control and STIs.  Peer educators teach classes, talk to school boards, host events, and get to kick it with PPSD's health educators and case managers.  There are a few different Peer Education groups at PPSD in Napa, Shasta and Solano Counties - if you want to get involved contact the Community Services and Education Department at 925/676-0505 or CSE@ppshastadiablo.org.

In Napa:

  • ASK (Advocating Sexuality Knowledge)
  • SALUD (Saber Actuar Libermente con Unidad y Decision)
  • SHUSH (St. Helena Upholds Sexuality and Health)

In Vallejo:

  • SAFE (Sex Advocates For Everyone)

SAFE is a peer education group at Vallejo High School (VHS). SAFE educators are trained on sexual health topics such as birth control methods, sexually transmitted infections and reproductive anatomy so that they may in turn educate their classmates through outreach. At VHS, SAFE educators participate in tabling events where they lead games and provide information to their peers. Also, SAFE educators are on hand at the VHS Express Site in order to help their fellow students obtain Planned Parenthood services.
