Abortion

We offer two methods of abortion.  This summer the Texas Legislature changed the abortion law. Starting October 1, 2011, women in Texas are now required to have an ultrasound at least 24 hours before an abortion.  This is required for the abortion pill and for in-clinic abortions.  This means that women now have to make two trips for an abortion instead of one.

There is no medical reason for requiring women to come 24 hours in advance, and Planned Parenthood fought hard against this law.  Unfortunately it passed, so we must follow this law.

We understand that requiring two visits makes things more inconvenient and difficult for women during a stressful time in their lives.  We will try our very best to work with women and help them through these new changes.

In-clinic abortion

ImageAn in-clinic abortion is performed using gentle suction and medical instruments to remove the pregnancy from the uterus. In-clinic abortions are performed up to 19.6 weeks of pregnancy at our Houston location and up to 14 weeks at our Bryan location.

The Abortion Pill

imageThe Abortion Pill is a combination of two medications used to abort an early pregnancy (less than 9 weeks by ultrasound). The woman takes one pill in the health center and the other at home. The abortion, similar to a heavy period, occurs in the privacy of the home. Women who are less than 9 weeks pregnant may choose the abortion pill or in-clinic abortion. The abortion pill is available at our Bryan, Houston, and Stafford locations.

Vasectomy
A vasectomy is a safe, simple, permanent surgical procedure which prevents a man from causing a pregnancy. We offer the no-incision ("no-scalpel") method of vasectomy at our Houston (4600 Gulf Freeway) health center

With this method of vasectomy, the skin of the scrotum is not cut. One tiny puncture is made to reach both tubes. The tubes are then tied off, cauterized, or blocked. The tiny puncture heals quickly. No stitches are needed, and no scarring takes place. This method reduces bleeding and decreases the possibility of infection, bruising, and other complications.

The cost of a vasectomy is $540 and it includes the procedure, sedation, athletic support (jock strap), and post-operative semen analysis. We can provide a super bill for you to send to your insurance.

Contact us to schedule an appointment for a vasectomy consultation. Walk-in appointments are not available.
