Gifts in Your Will
Naming Planned Parenthood in your will affirms, honors, and protects what matters most to you. Through a specific bequest, you can name a particular dollar amount to be left to PPRM. Through a residuary bequest, you can give all or part of what is remaining after payment of debts, expenses, and specific bequests.
If you would like to make such a gift to Planned Parenthood, your attorney may wish to include language similar to the following:
"I give, devise, and bequeath to Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains or its successor, now or formerly at 7155 E 38th Avenue, Denver CO 80207, a gift of ($_____ or _____ percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate), to be used for its general purposes."
A Current Gift from an IRA
Donors who are age 70½ and older can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QDC) of up to $100,000 from their IRA. This opportunity has been in place since 2006 but has often been a last minute congressional decision. The American Tax Relief Act 2013 extended this gift option through 2013.
Income for Life
There are other planned giving options that can provide you with payments for the rest of your life, with the remaining funds supporting Planned Parenthood. These options include charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and pooled income fund donations.
Other Ways to Give
You might also consider naming Planned Parenthood as a beneficiary in your retirement plan, insurance policy, or bank and investment accounts. Depending on the plan, Planned Parenthood can be named as a full, partial, or contingent beneficiary.
