Under the new health care law, sometimes called Obamacare, all Americans must purchase health insurance by next year. Enrollment in new health insurance plans will be available for people without insurance starting October 1, 2013. Once enrolled, the new coverage starts on January 1, 2014.
Planned Parenthood is available to help answer your questions about the new health care law and can help you get enrolled in one of the new plans. Planned Parenthood’s reproductive health specialists have been providing quality, affordable health care for nearly a century. We accept insurance, but no matter which plan you choose or whether you have insurance or not, Planned Parenthood will continue to provide expert reproductive health care no matter what.
New Mexicans will be able to purchase new plans on the state's insurance marketplace, BeWellNM. Financial help may be available to make plans more affordable, so people can find a plan that fits their budget.
Plans available on BeWellNM.com will cover things like doctor visits, hospitalizations, maternity care, ER care, and prescriptions. Birth control and related visits are covered with no co-pays or deductibles.
Under the new law, health insurance plans will no longer be able to deny you coverage based on a pre-existing condition like diabetes or breast cancer.
