All teens are welcome at the Mary Ruth Duncan (Ross Avenue) and Marlin health centers, no matter how old you are, your ability to pay, or your immigration status. To make an appointment, call (254) 759-5772 or (800) 951-7258 . Tell them you are a teen!
We offer sexual/reproductive health check-ups for females and males. We can get you started on hormonal birth control methods (pills, shot, patch, and ring) without needing to have an exam first. We also encourage you to use condoms to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections. You can be tested for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections at any of our centers.
Planned Parenthood in Waco respects your right to confidentiality. Texas law allows teens to consent to confidential family planning services and reproductive health care. This means you can make an appointment and get any of these services without asking your parents’ permission:
- All types of birth control
- Prescription for Plan B~Morning After Pill (you can also get it without a prescription at Planned Parenthood or any pharmacy if you are 18 or older)
- Pregnancy testing and education
- Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) education, testing, and treatment
- HIV/AIDS education and testing
We encourage minors to involve parents/guardians in your sexual health decisions; however, after your visit, your parents will not be told about the care you received if you don’t want to tell them.
If you’re not sure how you can afford to pay for care, or if you already have insurance and don’t know if we accept it, you should still come to Planned Parenthood. We have staff who will talk with you to figure out how you can get the health services you seek. You do not need to get your parents’ permission or submit their income when seeking financial assistance for family planning and reproductive health care. And we will keep your application confidential.
In Texas, teens seeking abortion must have their parent/legal guardian's permission or apply for a court order granting the abortion. The court order is called a Judicial Bypass. Please visit Jane's Due Process for more information about the Judicial Bypass process.
