SO MANY WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE — AS A PPSO VOLUNTEER
Volunteers play a crucial role in PPSO’s success. We rely on volunteers in several departments. You'll find a long list of potential volunteer opportunities below — and we are always open to accommodating your talents and skills in new ways!
General office work volunteering
Clinic volunteering
Education/The New 3Rs
Development (fundraising)
In addition, we have a dynamic volunteer program for those interested in political activism.
All new volunteer opportunities are posted via email as they arise and any volunteer may inquire about the opportunity.
We welcome any reliable person to apply to volunteer with us. We do require a volunteer application to be completed (click here for a downloadable application), as well as reference and background check. After your application has been reviewed you will be contacted for an interview and orientation. All volunteers will need to have training on confidentiality (HIPAA).
General Office Support Volunteer Opportunities
take place primarily in the administrative offices in Eugene. Scheduling is typically very flexible. Projects include:
• Assist with Volunteer Intake: Make phone calls verifying references for new volunteers, enter volunteer data into FileMaker, and call new volunteers to schedule training sessions.
• Maintain Clipping Files
• Build Parent Packets
• Board Packets

Clinic Volunteer Opportunities require a minimum of six months and 4-6 hours per week commitment. Clinic volunteers are oriented and trained, and located at a clinic that is in need of volunteers. Volunteers usually keep a consistent schedule. Volunteer jobs include:
• Filing Charts: Ongoing, constant, more fun than you would think. You will be working in the clinic in the front desk area, in the chart room.
• Filing Labs: This job requires the volunteer to file the lab results for Pap Smears, STI screenings, and other lab test results into the client’s chart. This work is done in the clinic in the chart room, located at the front desk area.
• Condom Bags: Preparing the condoms bags we dispense to almost all of our clients. Another constant job, we dispense thousands of condoms each week!
• Administrative Support: Working on the administration side of the clinic building, assisting with clinic manual updates, copying, collating, data entry and general office support.
• HIV Packets: Compiling the actual paperwork we use in the clinic to administer HIV testing. Focus on details and accuracy a must.
• Prenatal Packets: Assembling the Prenatal Packets we use in the pregnancy options discussed with clients who have a positive test result at their clinic visit.
• Client Assistance: During high traffic times within the clinic, some clients with special needs (language translation, physical limitations, etc.) will need assistance filling out forms.
• Refill Prescription Line: Receive recorded requests for birth control, refill prescriptions and prepare for dispensing to clients.
• Dispense Birth Control: Sell birth control to walk in clients.
• Telephone Triage: Making reminder calls to clients for upcoming appointments, answering and directing client calls and scheduling appointments.
