Who We Are
Our mission statement
PPSP believes that every child should be a wanted child. Then women and men can achieve the self-determination that makes families and societies strong. It is therefore PPSP’s mission to protect and enhance reproductive freedom, to increase access to reproductive health services and information, and to promote sexual health.
Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania is composed of a diverse team of pro-choice women and men who, on a daily basis, provide high-quality sexual health care, offer expert sexuality education, and promote effective advocacy to protect our right to reproductive choice.
The personal, affordable medical services provided at our Health Centers include:
Our Education programs include:
- Youth First, our 21-session, multi-dimensional sexuality and youth development program, offered to 6th- and 8th-grade students in 11 of Philadelphia’s public schools
- Sexuality Program for the Deaf, with a specialized focus on working with the Deaf and hard of hearing of all ages
- Our Youth Serving Professionals staff educates and trains teachers and social service staff so that they may address sexuality-related issues in schools, community centers, and similar facilities
- Our Volunteer Educator program trains individuals to provide multi-session and single-session sexuality education in the three-county area that PPSP serves.
- We train peer educators, facilitate Healthy Relationship classes and provide Chlamydia and gonorrhea testing at the Achieving Independence Center for youth and young adults who are cycling out of foster care
- Our Teen Success program provides a supportive group environment for teens 12 to 18 years of age who are pregnant or parenting
- Information Unbarred, a four-session sexuality program provided to women and teens incarcerated at the Riverside Correctional Facility
- Health Resource Centers at local high schools provide information, education and safer sex supplies to students
We shape public policy at the local, state, and federal levels by:
- Providing up-to-date information about legislation
- Meeting with public officials about reproductive health issues
- Mobilizing supporters to take action to protect reproductive rights
- Hosting community events and advocacy trainings
- Communicating our message in the media
- Working with coalition partners.
