Training for Youth-Serving Professionals



Our Spectrum of Services

The PPSP Education & Professional Development Department offers an array of trainings and resources to meet your needs in the critical, but often challenging, arena of sexuality and sexuality education. We can work with you to customize a package that best meets your needs.

We Are Here for You

Our clients come from a wide array of fields, including:
  • early childhood , elementary and secondary education
  • after-school and summer programs
  • juvenile justice
  • parent education
  • rehabilitation
  • residential treatment
  • social services
  • other youth-serving agencies

We tailor program topics to the age group and population you serve.  Among the choices are:

  • understanding sexual development and reproductive anatomy
  • developing healthy relationships and managing conflict
  • making informed decisions about sexuality and sexual activity
  • planning and spacing pregnancies
  • preventing sexually transmitted infections
  • preventing sexual violence
  • increasing effective communication about sexuality

2008 Open Enrollment Workshops

We can both suggest a package of existing programs and/or tailor programs to your staff and the populations you serve.  
  • All workshops are from 9:30-3:30 at our Center City location and include Continental breakfast and lunch.
  • Act 48 and PQAS credits are available for all trainings.
  • In addition to reasonable fees, we offer discounts for multiple services, group rates and limited scholarships for open-enrollment participants

Sexuality and Teens: Facilitating, Responding, Teaching 
October 27 & 28, 2008
$195 or 3 participants at $150 each  

This training will help you facilitate sexuality education programs and activities with youth ages 13-18, communicate better with adolescents and respond to their questions about sexuality. All participants will receive a copy of PPSP’s Teen Times curriculum.  

Sexuality and Young Children: Positive Messages for a Healthy Future
November 18, 2008; April 23, 2009
$95 or 3 participants at $75 each

This training will help you understand the stages of normal sexual development;use teachable moments to give age-appropriate, healthy messages about sexuality to children ages 0-8;examine your values around sexuality and the implications of those values in working with young children; andexplore strategies for dealing with difficult sexuality-related issues.                                                                                                                                                  

Sexuality and Pre-adolescents: Facilitating, Responding, Teaching
December 15 & 16, 2008
$195 or 3 participants at $150 each      

This training will help you facilitate sexuality education programs and activities with youth ages 9-12, communicate better with young people and answer their questions about sexuality. All participants will receive a copy of PPSP’s Steps Towards Adolescence curriculum.        

Sexuality and Youth in Residential Settings
May 19, 2009 $95 or 3 participants at $75 each    

This training will help you understand the stages of sexual development throughout childhood and adolescence, as well as issues of particular concern for youth living in residential settings. Participants will explore strategies for answering tough questions, handling sexuality-related issues, and navigating relationships with both the youth they work with and their parents/caregivers.
