Center Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate and committed to women’s healthcare, and thrives in managing and "growing" health centers dealing with reproductive health care.  If you have practice management / medical office management experience or healthcare program supervisory experience and enjoy working with a diverse population in a fast paced, high volume, family planning center, the role of Center Manager may be the right choice for you.  We have a full-time position available in our Norristown Health Center.

The Center Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our reproductive health center, is part of the Patient Services Management team, and is responsible for enhancing, developing, implementing, and improving systems to ensure high quality healthcare and excellent customer service for patients.  All Center Managers are expected to become members of the service delivery team.

Successful candidates must have excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills; must be able to manage effectively in a high volume environment; have the ability to intervene in crisis situations; and must be willing to work flexible hours including some evenings and Saturdays.  Occasional travel to other locations may be necessary.  Medical office (practice management) experience or health care management experience are required and a background in reproductive healthcare is preferred.

Clinician (Nurse Practitioner)
 
The Clinician will function in an expanded role in the provision of reproductive health care for women and men. 
 
Job duties include, under written Standing Orders of the Medical Director, performing and supervising medical aspects of patient care in a contraceptive center in accordance with PPSP Standing Orders and policies and procedures.
 
Candidates must be licensed or certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Pennsylvania with training in a recognized program or its equivalent; must have experience in reproductive health care including STD’s, contraception, pregnancy sizing and options, counseling experience is essential, and experience in male examination is desirable.  Malpractice coverage assumed by clinician if individual coverage required by the State.

Our available full-time and part-time positions are listed below by location:

  • Full-time positions:  Castor Avenue Health Center (Northeast Philadelphia), Elizabeth Blackwell Health Center (Center City Philadelphia), Patient Services Floater position covering all four counties (Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia). 
  • Part-time, Saturday positions:  Locust Street Health Center (Center City Philadelphia), Norristown Health Center (Montgomery County)--candidates must be bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish), West Chester Health Center (Chester County). 
  • Part-time, Tuesday & Thursday positions:  Upper Darby Health Center (Delaware County).

 Grassroots Organizer

This full-time position of 35 hours/week will support and expand the programmatic work of the External Affairs Department by recruiting activists and developing and maintaining a strong and responsive pro-choice and pro-Planned Parenthood grassroots base in targeted legislative districts, on campuses, through on-line organizing, at public events, etc.  The Grassroots Organizer will participate in developing strategies and activities to build activists' skills, and to cultivate activsts as organizational assets to increase our visibility, promote our issues and services, and broaden our advocacy base.

The successful candidate must exhibit excellent written/oral communication and customer service skills.  Internet research skills and strong organizational skills are required as is general knowledge of the legislative process, working knowledge of on-line advocacy systems and the ability to work well independently, juggle multiple priorities, take initiative, take risks, be a team-player and be willing to travel and accept a flexible work schedule that includes evening and weekend commitments.  Successful candidate must have access to a car.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.  Related advocacy experience in a political or social issues setting preferred.

Surgical Nurse:

 
The Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients in compliance with overall PPSP mission, goals and in compliance with federal, state and PPFA regulations.  In addition, this position is also responsible for providing nursing care to patients during procedures and in the recovery area.
 
This position requires a candidate with an RN Degree, BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications, and with OB/GYN or emergency room experience preferred; working knowledge of contraceptive technology required; demonstrated ability to relate to persons of diverse background and ability to communicate effectively with clients; previous experience interviewing and educating patients; ability to intervene in crisis situations, and demonstrated ability to effectively manage a medical emergency.  Must be willing to work Saturdays.  Part-time, benefits eligible, and on-call (per diem) positions available in Center City.
