Leadership Committee members will attend an intensive one-day training focused on developing effective communication, event planning and advocacy skills that will be used to educate the community and improve public policy around access to birth control and comprehensive sex education.
Upon completion of the training, Leadership Committee members will have the skills and support needed to teach other community members about reproductive health policy and how to improve access to vital health care in Miami-Dade County. Planned Parenthood will work with Leadership Committee members to arrange presentations in classrooms, sorority meetings, on-campus organizations, and resident halls where they can utilize their newly-honed skills to educate and mobilize their peers. Each Leadership Committee member will be asked to assist in planning or speaking at two community presentations in the fall of 2009 and will have an opportunity to meet with local elected officials.
The Planned Parenthood Leadership Committee is an innovative way for college and graduate students to meet like minded people and learn valuable skills that will transfer to internships, fellowships, and jobs. If you are interested in strengthening your public speaking skills, learning how to mobilize communities, and advocating for women’s rights, apply for the Planned Parenthood Leadership Committee.
