Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast is fortunate to have dedicated supporters like you. I am writing to you today to thank you for this support and provide you with an update on Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast’s status as we weather this economic storm.
From the beginning, PPSFTC has made both the provision of our much needed services and responsible financial management a priority. Today, as you well know, times are tough. PPSFTC like many other organizations has experienced decreased donations, despite an increased need for our services. Our clinics are seeing more and more women choosing to forego their own health care in order to make ends meet. With major layoffs announced on almost a daily basis, we anticipate seeing many more underinsured and uninsured in our clinics.
We continue to perform a balancing act of providing the community with vital reproductive healthcare services and education, while responding to this challenging fundraising climate. We are taking great care in monitoring our cash flow and projected fundraising outcomes. As a result, we have determined that we must reduce organizational and programmatic expenses, including a reduction in personnel. Even with these cuts, we anticipate a budget shortfall this fiscal year, putting at risk vital, life-saving services for the women, men and teens in our community.
The staff and board of directors at Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast are committed to exploring additional funding opportunities, as well as identifying cost savings. However, PPSFTC runs a lean operating budget and only so many cuts can be made before our services – and the community – begin to suffer.
As a Planned Parenthood supporter, you understand the importance of our work, and I hope that we can continue to count on you. You can help by responding to the Planned Parenthood action alerts, lobbying your elected officials, and making charitable contributions.
Thank you again for your support and commitment to Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast.
Sincerely,

Lillian A. Tamayo
President / CEO
