The New Health Care Law at a Glance
- New, more affordable health insurance plans are available to people without insurance.
- You can enroll between October 1, 2013 through March 31 of 2014.
- You may be able to get financial help from the government to pay for your new insurance plan.
All new health insurance plans cover prescription birth control, annual well-woman exams, and HIV and STD screenings with no copay. But different health insurance plans cover different brands of birth control for free, without a copay. Contact your health insurance company directly to find out which brands of birth control are free.
Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t worry. For almost 100 years, Planned Parenthood has provided confidential, expert women’s health care. That’s not changing. We’re here to help you understand what these health insurance changes mean for you.
