AIDS/HIV Testing
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is the most advanced stage of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) disease. Infection with HIV weakens the body's ability to fight sickness and disease.
HIV is spread in blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. It can be transmitted by vaginal, anal, and oral sexual contact; by sharing contaminated needles; by the transfusion of contaminated blood products; from a mother to her fetus during pregnancy; and through breast feeding. It is not transmitted by touching, hugging, or being in the same room. A person infected with HIV may not have any symptoms for ten years or more.
Testing for HIV and AIDS consists of looking for anti-bodies to the HIV virus in human blood. Protect yourself and others - call your local clinic to make an appointment or request an appointment online to get tested.
