You, as our supporter, may receive multiple mailings, newsletters, annual reports, invitations to events, and thank you letters for donations. In addition to our mailings, you may receive e-mail alerts, phone solicitations, and letters from several other Planned Parenthood organizations, such as Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF). While all Planned Parenthood organizations are important, only donations to Planned Parenthood of South Central New York, Inc. (PPSCNY) benefit women and men in Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties. Donations to PPFA do not fund health care or education at our clinics in Binghamton, Norwich, Oneonta, Sidney or Walton. Donations to PPSCNY do directly benefit your family, friends and neighbors. The same is true if you choose to donate online. If you make your gift on our website, please indicate that your gift is to benefit your local Planned Parenthood. Otherwise, your donation will go to Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), and not your local health centers in Broome, Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties. If you check the box "where the need is greatest," half of your donation will go to PPFA and only half is sent to us for local use.
Thousands of women, men, teens and adults come through our doors each year. They come for many reasons such as an annual GYN exam, a sexually transmitted disease, contraception, or cancer screening. They come because they know they will get high quality medical care and education in a non judgmental environment. Some have insurance or are insured under subsidized programs, many have limited coverage or no coverage and must pay for services on a sliding fee scale, or not pay at all because they are unable to. It makes no difference to us, as each individual is treated the same regardless of ability or inability to pay.
Your financial support of Planned Parenthood of South Central New York makes it possible for us to do this work. Without your donations we would not be able to live our mission. Without your help, those who cannot pay for services would have no place to go for reproductive healthcare.
