WHO WE ARE:
The Clergy Advisory Board of Planned Parenthood of South Central Michigan consists of 19 deeply committed religious leaders and members from a wide variety of area churches & synagogues.
WE AFFIRM THAT:
Persons of all faiths deserve comprehensive, medically accurate information regarding healthy sexuality.
STATEMENT OF INTENT:
Every person has a right to personal and spiritual freedom of sexuality and is able to make decisions in keeping with their own understanding of God's loving intention.
The religious community is called by a loving God to meet the emotional and spiritual needs which accompany healthy sexuality.
VISION:
To make our society a safe and sane place to talk about, pray about and live out a healthy, responsible life of genuine spirituality and sexuality in relationship to ourselves, others and our planet.
MISSION:
To create a bridge for understanding, knowledge and advocacy between faith communities and Planned Parenthood of South Central Michigan in affirming the Creator's gifts of spirituality and sexuality. Through meeting and fellowship to affirm and share the importance of sexuality and to plan, advocate and implement ideas that enhance healthy and holistic sexuality in faith communities and with those who attend them.
WHAT WE DO:
The Clergy Advisory Board of Planned Parenthood of South Central Michigan is devoted to creating a partnership to share resources and information between Planned Parenthood and the religious communities in SW Michigan. We advocate for choice and affirm the connection between spirituality and healthy sexuality.
The Board sponsors events such as the ecumenical church service celebrating the 29 years of freedom that Roe v Wade has given us, sexuality workshops and presentations. Clergy members also provide counseling for women who are struggling with an unintended pregnancy.
