Positively Speaking is one of Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara, Ventura & San Luis Obispo Counties most established and widely-requested presentations. Presenters receiv extensive specialized training and share personal stories that offer a unique opportunity for students to hear the life experiences of men and women living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, bringing a personal dimension to prevention education. The program builds compassion and promotes collaboration between health agencies and schools.
Positively Speaking presenters come from diverse and multi-cultural backgrounds. Programs are offered in a variety of classroom settings including health, science, physical education and social science classes.
The Positively Speaking program can support local school districts in supplementing mandated HIV/AIDS education with presentations made by HIV-positive speakers or loved ones affected by the disease.
