Events For Parents

Parent House Parties

Parent House Parties with PPNNE Educators as special guest facilitators have become increasingly popular with parents looking for a little extra help with the inevitable and important -but not always easy- sexual health questions of their children.

PPNNE's goal at these parties is to provide parents with resources, examples, and practice so they can feel confident and prepared for talking with their children about sexuality, relationships, and health.

Are you interested in hosting a PPNNE Parent House Party?  Typically, a host will invite 6-12 friends and neighbors with similar aged children, offer light refreshments and an open inviting atmosphere. The PPNNE Educator leads parents to focus on skill building in a relaxed setting of good humor and mutual support.  Party-participants begin by exploring the messages they received from their own parents about sexuality; everyone has a story to tell.  From there, parents explore the kinds of messages they want to impart to their own kids and then dig deeper into the cultural and personal obstacles that keep those honest conversations from happening.

PPNNE has been more focused than ever on encouraging families and communities to talk honestly and openly about sexuality, health and relationships.  More talk is good and what parents say matters most.  PPNNE can help.

If you would like to host a Parent House Party, please contact us for more information.

Join our first Chittenden County Parent Council

PPNNE wants to build on the successes of what we have learned during the five years of conducting Teen Councils.  PPNNE is now seeking parents to serve on our first Chittenden County Parent Council.  Parents who serve on this council will advise PPNNE Educators on what parents want to learn and what resources parents need to manage adolescent life.  If you are interested in attending a Parent Council session, please contact our Education Department.
