Be One of Us — Because Health Care Should Be For All of Us
Planned Parenthood was founded by volunteers. In 1916, Margaret Sanger opened the first family planning center in the United States, working with volunteers to provide contraceptive advice despite the threat of jail and charges of violating New York's anti-obscenity statutes. Today, PPNNE has a staff of about 300, but we continue to rely on the energy and commitment of volunteers to fulfill our mission of providing comprehensive reproductive health care, education, and advocacy.
