Birth control is basic health care. All women and men deserve access to the preventive services that can help them make responsible decisions about their lives and their futures.  Unfortunately, due to a legislative error, the cost of birth control is skyrocketing--- in some cases it has risen 900%.   Low income women and college students across the country are losing access to birth control because they cannot afford this increase in the cost of their pills.  Congress must act now to fix their mistake and restore affordable birth control. Read more or take action today.

Help Ensure Quality Reproductive Health Care for All

At Planned Parenthood, our most important resource is our people. Volunteers and activists play such an important role in the work we do!  We depend on volunteers in all aspects of our work, from educating the public and assisting in health centers, to fundraising and political advocacy.  Our volunteers not only provide much needed and worthwhile services, they also gain valuable skills and exposure that offers both personal and professional growth.

Whether you are interested in political advocacy or helping our health centers run smoothly - PPNNE has volunteer opportunities for you!  Examples of activities range from phone banking, to learning how to lobby your legislators, to performing administrative work at our various sites.  If you are interested in learning more about these volunteer opportunities or additional ways you can get involved, please email grassroots@ppnne.org.

A Matter of Health & Safety

On April 18, 2007, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the federal abortion ban in the cases Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood and Gonzales v. Carhart, upholding the first-ever federal law banning abortion and giving politicians the green light to interfere in the private health care decisions of women and families.

Every American who values freedom and privacy should be troubled by the Supreme Court’s reckless decision.  And every American can fight back.
