Talk to My Parents?

We can hear it now: "Talk to my parents about sex? Are you out of your mind?"

Actually, no, we aren't. Believe it or not, your parents are people, too. And most parents would love to talk to their kids about anything, but especially about sex. They just don't know where to begin - and they aren't sure how you'll react.

So here are some tips to help you keep the lines of communication open with your parents:

     • Tell them what's going on in your life. Ask what's going on with them.
     • Share your feelings. Chances are you'll find a sympathetic ear.
     • Ask questions about their opinions and values.
     • Even if you don't agree, listen to them and they may listen in return.

Whether you're talking about relationships, sex, or any other topic, you can gain your parents' trust and respect by showing you are responsible and mature enough to discuss important issues with them.
