Pregnancy Testing and Counseling
Choosing when and whether to have children is a fundamental human right. Planned Parenthood believes that childbearing decisions should be made by each individual woman in consultation with her doctor, her family, and her conscience.
Pregnancy testing and options counseling are available either as part of an exam or as a separate service. Clients are provided with information based on their test results and individual needs. Complete information regarding abortion, adoption and prenatal care are available from our professional counseling and medical staff at no cost.
Our urine pregnancy tests are accurate at the time of the first missed period. It takes minutes to get the results, and a staff person will then talk with you and give you information that you may need. You can obtain information about birth control methods, or information about where you can obtain prenatal or abortion services. An appointment is not necessary- come into the health center during walk-in hours.
Our options education is client-centered and focuses on the questions and needs of each individual. All questions are answered in an unbiased and non-directive manner. Our specially trained medical staff has the knowledge and experience to answer any questions you may have about the results of your pregnancy test. In the case of a negative pregnancy test result, an experienced medical staff person can discuss what steps you should take next depending on your particular circumstances.
There is no right or wrong choice. Only you can decide what is right for you.
To make an appointment or for more information, please contact one of our local health centers directly or call 1-800-230-PLAN to be connected to the Planned Parenthood health center nearest you.
