Medical (Non-Surgical) Abortion

Planned Parenthood believes in your right to decide the best course for your pregnancy. If you choose to terminate your pregnancy, we can provide an early option, nonsurgical abortion.

PPNCB provides medical abortions up to 56 days LMP (8 weeks). You will receive an ultrasound to determine the gestational age of your pregnancy. That, combined with your medical history, will determine if you qualify for this procedure.

The medical abortion procedure uses a combination of medications. Mifepristone is administered to stop the development of the pregnancy. Misoprostol is given one to two days later to cause cramping and expel the pregnancy. This procedure usually involves more cramping and bleeding than a surgical abortion.
