Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson’s (PPMH) recently renovated Utica Center is now open! Thanks to donor support and staff commitment, this center has undergone an amazing transformation into a state-of-the-art facility.
“We designed this building around our patients’ needs,” stated Margaret Roberts, PPMH co-president/CEO. “The redesigned reception area is comfortable and welcoming, security has been enhanced, and the new private entrance keeps protestors at bay.”
For a number of years, protestors have daily picketed and displayed graphic signs and religious statues outside the entrance of the center located on Utica’s busiest street, Genesee Street. Patients previously had to walk past the protestors to enter the building. Now, a new entrance at the side of the center allows patients to park in a new expanded lot at the back of the center and enter out of site and intraction from protestors.
The completion of this building marks the conclusion of our capital campaign, which raised funds for five PPMH Centers: Glens Falls, Johnstown, Saratoga, Schenectady, and Utica.
