Roberts retires effective May 31 and Drisgula on August 2. Collectively, they have 64 years of experience as Planned Parenthood affiliate CEOs.
In 2000, Roberts and Drisgula guided the merger of the two affiliates they headed (Mohawk Valley and Northeastern New York respectively) and continued to head the organization that serves 12 counties. Their accomplishments have been many, including a capital campaign that completed seven building projects, implementation of electronic health records and other technological advances, major advocacy campaigns and expanded education programming.
“Twenty-seven years of adventure – that is what Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson has afforded me,” says Roberts. “How many people can say that their work lives have been very rewarding, fun, difficult, exasperating, exhilarating, and satisfying? Fortunately I can, and those adjectives are my recipe for adventure. Working with a colleague like Paul Drisgula – extremely smart and talented, totally dedicated, honest, compassionate, sensitive, thoughtful, tough, and possessing a wicked sense of humor – certainly has made our endeavors together fun.”
“I generally don’t use the word blessed,” said Drisgula, who is in his 37th year as a Planned Parenthood CEO. “But I feel blessed by my life in Planned Parenthood: blessed by a board culture that attracts and develops outstanding volunteers; blessed by a friendship and relationship with Margaret Roberts that taught me what honor and strength in a leader looks like; blessed by a leadership team and staff with a commitment to our mission that is the envy of both profit making and not for profit organizations; blessed by legions of Planned Parenthood supporters who selflessly offer their gifts to advance our cause; blessed by a cause the equal of any on the planet.”.
