Upcoming Workshops

Parents are turning to Planned Parenthood for information and guidance. And we’re happy to provide it!

We’ve received an overwhelming number of calls from parents seeking help in providing sex education for their teens and pre-teens. Many of the schools in our area do not teach any form of sex education or the school’s required sex education curriculum is inadequate.

In response, we’ve created the “Real Talk” series. These 2-hour monthly sessions are targeted especially for parents or teens and are provided by the Education Department at Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas. Parents and teens will receive a wealth of information centered on sex and sexuality as well as tips on how to communicate about these topics within the family.

“Real Talk for Parents” encourages conversation and instructs parents on how to open the lines of communication with their child about the stages of life. It is essential for parents to talk to young people about sex and how it can positively or negatively impact their life—especially in today’s sex-saturated environment.

“Real Talk for Teens” informs teens about sexually transmitted infections (STIs or STDs), contraception, teen dating, relationships, and the influence of media in their lives.
