Education and Professional Training

Human sexuality is a lifelong aspect of being human and should be celebrated with respect and openness. In an effort to ensure everyone is able to make informed decisions about their sexuality, PPGWNI provides honest education and professional training.

PPGWNI's education programs provide the information, tools, and skills to help individuals make healthy and responsible sexual decisions throughout their lives. As experts in the field of sexuality education, our educators are trained to design and deliver unbiased, age-appropriate, science-based programming.

PPGWNI provides sexuality education programs for:

  • Schools and Community Education:
PPGWNI is the community’s resource for medically-accurate, age-appropriate, and evidence-based sexuality education. A few of our topics include:
    •  Abstinence and Goal Setting Education
    •  Reproductive Anatomy and Physiology
    •  Puberty Education
    • Communication Skills
    • Healthy Relationships
    • Contraception Education
    • Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevention (Including HIV and AIDS.)
    • Teen Pregnancy
    • Saying No to Unwanted Touch
    • Responsible Sexual Decision Making
    • Sexual Orientation
    • All curricula have been approved by the Washington State Dept. of Health and meet the criteria set forth by the Healthy Youth Act.

  • Teens:
PPGWNI has two teen health advisory groups that are comprised of local high school students who are passionate about educating their peers about advocacy concerning teen reproductive health, preventing teen pregnancy and sexual decision-making.
  • Parents and Sexuality Educators:
Parents are the primary sexuality educators of their children. PPGWNI has helped strengthen hundreds of families by offering workshops that provide tools for better communication around sensitive issues such as family values, delaying onset of sexual activity, preventing unplanned pregnancy, STI and HIV.
  •  Individuals with Developmental Disabilities:
We believe in acting courageously, especially as allies with those who have little or no voice and little or no power. Sexual education for people with disabilities is very important and our team is trained to offer developmentally appropriate information that will help keep this vulnerable population safe.
  • Professional Training:
Our professional training department is highly utilized by local health, social, religious, and community-based professionals.  Trainings provided by our team are embedded in research in areas of sexual health, risk prevention, behavior change, and learning pedagogy.
  • Adults:
We believe that the free and joyous expression of one's own sexuality is central to being fully human throughout our lives. We offer information and workshops on such topics as safer sex, contraception, menopause and sexuality for mid and later life.
