Alaska public affairs staff continues to garner support for a statewide solution to the high rates of Chlamydia in Alaska. We are also closely watching the implementation process around health care exchanges. Alaska continues to be the only state that has not sought Federal funding to set up the exchange, but the Governor’s office began the work, which will be funded by state general funds.

Planned Parenthood is excited to be working with the Add the Words campaign to urge the Idaho Legislature to add the words “sexual orientation and gender identity” to Idaho's non-discrimination law, the Idaho Human Rights Act. Currently, it is legal to fire someone or evict them from their home solely based on their sexual orientation and gender identity. Legislators need to hear...
We are also working to make sure the implementation of health care reform in Idaho protects access to women’s health care.
While the Idaho Human Rights Act and Health Care Reform are at the top of Planned Parenthood's legislative agenda for the 2012 session, that won’t be all. We anticipate many of the anti-choice attacks that are all too common in Idaho and plan to face these challenges head on.

Washington State Lobby Day
Monday, January 30th
Olympia, WA
In 2011, you made it possible to prevent devastating cuts to family planning in Washington State and kept some of our most vulnerable women and men safe. But 2012 is another year–we face the worst budget crisis in history as well as a major election. This is the year to be bold and aggressive to protect women’s access to reproductive rights. There are many competing interests this legislative session, and we cannot let women’s health care become white noise in Olympia. About $1.8 million in cuts to family planning has already been proposed by Governor Chris Gregoire at a time when more women than ever need access to essential health care services.
Join Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Washington to tell Olympia legislators why funding and access for basic reproductive health care services is so important. Together we can represent Washington’s pro-choice majority and defend reproductive health care for women and families throughout the state. Check out the FAQ for more information.
