Who We Are

Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) is the largest non-profit family planning and reproductive rights organization in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Our mission is to provide, promote, and protect access to sexual and reproductive health care.

Since 1963, PPCW has provided a broad range of sexual and reproductive health care, family planning and other medical services; trained and educated community members on issues of sexuality; and advocated for the protection of reproductive rights and freedom in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Each year, almost 60,000 women, men and teens visit one of PPCW's eleven health centers. We provide a wide range of education programs and health care services, including low-cost contraceptives, emergency contraception, annual gynecological exams, breast exams, cervical cancer detection and treatment, testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, and pregnancy testing and options counseling. Approximately five percent of PPCW services are for first term abortion care.

We seek to:

  • Expand access to sexual and reproductive health care in Oregon and Southwest Washington by promoting a wide range of services to populations of diverse age, gender, ethnicity, geographic location, and income level.
  • Assure the availability of comprehensive sexuality education.
  • Reduce unintended pregnancy and births, especially among young people.
  • Heighten public awareness of sexual and reproductive health care issues.

We are an unrelenting champion of PREVENTION first and INTERVENTION second.

We believe that all people, including children and youth, have a right to be knowledgeable about their sexual choices and reproductive health, and to learn how to behave responsibly, guided by their own individual standards of morality.

At each Planned Parenthood affiliate, one will always find people for whom no cause is more important. They are convinced that no perfect world could even be imagined until children have a reasonable chance of being born into a welcoming and nurturing environment. They surely understand that when women have no control over their childbearing, legions of undernurtured children and defeated, devastated women are the inevitable consequence. --Jane Johnson, Former PPFA Interim Co-president
