Education Information
I would like to have you come in but none of the programs seem to fit exactly. Do you offer any other educational programs? Yes! We are always happy to tailor our training and educational programs to fit the needs of your group.
What is the fee for education and training? The cost for educational services is $50/hour. Training is $75/hour. We can provide education at a reduced cost for a limited number of organizations. We are especially committed to making our educational and training services for communities who are most in need. We will review requests and ability to pay on a case-by-case basis.
Why would we choose a multi-session program rather than just a one-time presentation? By providing an opportunity to focus on topics more continuously, multi-session programs increase the likelihood of participants being able to successfully build their sense of empowerment and self-efficacy. Research done by well known leaders in the field of adolescent health demonstrates that multi-session programs are the most effective ways to affect an increase in knowledge and intention to change behavior among youth.
Do you provide any ongoing programs for young people? Yes. In each of our service areas we provide ongoing support and youth development programs in places such as special school district classrooms, programs for teen parents and juvenile justice centers. Our Teen Clinic Program and our Teen Councils are ongoing youth development programs that build leadership and community involvement skills while training youth in health topics.
Who provides your educational programs? Most of our educational programs are provided by one of our community education coordinators, who are professionals in the field of health education and youth development. We also have committed and highly trained volunteers and interns who provide specific educational services.
My group would like to hear from informed youth who are close to them in age. Do you use peer educators for any of your services? Yes! We have Teen Councils in Central Oregon, Portland and Salem. The Teen Councils members are available to provide peer education. We believe in peer education because we know that it has a powerful impact on youth who are peer educators while also providing an opportunity for teens to hear information from other youth who are trained and creditable educators.
