The Planned Parenthood Arizona Activist Council is a brand new, volunteer-driven project with the mission of getting our strong volunteer based more involved in Planned Parenthood's advocacy work. The group meets approximately once a month to get more in-depth information about current issues and to work together on advocacy projects and activist events. In February, PPAZ will be holding a series of trainings to kick-off our Activist Council.
The trainings are designed to bring interested volunteers up to speed on current reproductive health and rights issues, meet the founding members of our Activist Council group, and begin to talk about projects and actions. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary--just interest in and enthusiasm for reproductive rights.
Members can join workgroups like the Social Media Work Group, the Political Action Group, the Outreach Group or the Fundraising Group, or they can participate on a project-by-project basis. After the trainings, members are free to decide what types of projects and what issues interest them most. Beyond the monthly meetings, the level of time commitment is up to each person.
Please feel free to contact PPAZ with questions, or if you would like to find out more. Also, let us know if you are interested but are unable to join at this time, and we will keep your name on a list for future invitations.
