UPCOMING EVENTS
As the international community marks World AIDS Day on December 1, 2008, Planned Parenthood Arizona calls for renewed attention to the importance of testing and prevention to stop the spread of sexually transmitted infections like HIV/AIDS. The leading sexual health provider in the state, Planned Parenthood Arizona knows firsthand the power of education and testing in preventing the spread of sexually transmitted infections. Discounted HIV/AIDS testing will be offered on World AIDS Day. On December 1, 2008, the public can call 1-800-230-PLAN (7526) to make an appointment or walk-in to the health center near them to receive HIV testing for nearly half the regular price – the public will only pay $46 instead of $70.

ANNUAL EVENTS
Planned Parenthood Arizona hosts several events every year.

The annual Roe v. Wade Luncheon is held every January to commemorate the anniversary of the passage of Roe v. Wade. At this luncheon, awards are given to those who have exhibited courage and strength in the battle to keep Roe v. Wade legal. The Roe v. Wade Luncheon benefits the work of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona, a nonpartisan membership organization whose purpose is to educate and support voters, public officials, and candidates who promote strong families, planned, wanted children, reproductive rights, and sexual health for all.

The Peggy Goldwater Award is one of Planned Parenthood Arizona's most prestigious recognition of volunteer leadership. The award is named after its first recipient, Peggy (Mrs. Barry) Goldwater. In 1937, Peggy Goldwater joined Mrs. Dwight Heard and other leading women volunteers to establish the agency. Each year, the Peggy Goldwater Award is awarded during an elegent evening event to a volunteer who has shown extraordinary commitment to the agency's mission as well as the generosity of their financial support.

Each November, Planned Parenthood Arizona hosts Celebración de Noche Latina, an evening with fun, friends, and fine fare, to demonstrate our commitment to sexual health and the reduction of teen pregnancy through accurate health education in the Latino community. Proceeds from Celebración de Noche Latina benefit Planned Parenthood's education and outreach in the Latino community.

Planned Parenthood Arizona also hosts smaller events throughout the year. For more information on events, contact Annet Ruiter at (602) 263-4213 or aruiter@ppaz.org.
