Annual Events

Planned Parenthood Arizona hosts several events every year.

The annual Roe v. Wade Luncheon is held every January to commemorate the anniversary of the passage of Roe v. Wade. At this luncheon, the Justice Harry A. Blackmun Award is given to a person who has exhibited courage and strength in the battle to keep Roe v. Wade legal. The Roe v. Wade Luncheon benefits the work of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona, a nonpartisan membership organization whose purpose is to educate and support voters, public officials, and candidates who promote strong families, planned, wanted children, reproductive rights, and sexual health for all.

The Peggy Goldwater Award is Planned Parenthood Arizona's most prestigious recognition of volunteer leadership. The award is named after its first recipient, Peggy (Mrs. Barry) Goldwater. In 1937, Peggy Goldwater joined Mrs. Dwight Heard and other leading women volunteers to establish the agency. During the Spring of each year, the Peggy Goldwater Award is awarded during an elegent evening event to a volunteer who has shown extraordinary commitment to the agency's mission as well as the generosity of their financial support.

Planned Parenthood Arizona celebrates its founding every year with an event on, or near, it's founding date, October 1. The Founders' Day Luncheon and Volunteer Fair honors the strong tradition of volunteer service that has helped ensure the success of the agency, as well as the individual contributions of Planned Parenthood Arizona’s current volunteers. Three prestigious awards are given out at this luncheon: the Volunteer of the Year Award, the Young Volunteer of the Year Award, and the Gary A. Hammond Award, which is awarded to a long-term volunteer who has been giving back to the organization for 10 years or longer.

Each November, Planned Parenthood Arizona hosts Celebración de Noche Latina, an evening with fun, friends, and fine fare, to demonstrate our commitment to sexual health and the reduction of teen pregnancy through accurate health education in the Latino community. Proceeds from Celebración de Noche Latina benefit Planned Parenthood's education and outreach in the Latino community.

Planned Parenthood Arizona also hosts smaller events throughout the year. For more information on events, contact Terri Hoffman at (602) 263-4222 or thoffman@ppaz.org.
