Planned Parenthood State-Wide Lobby Day
We had a remarkable day with over 600 supporters from across the state. Sarah Weddington got the crowd going and kicked off the morning rally with strong words about continuing the fight for the civil rights of all women. Representatives from Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio also stood with Planned Parenthood and commended Planned Parenthood for their long history of providing safe, health care to thousands of women, men and teens.
Supporters stormed the Capitol and visited nearly all 181 legislators to tell talk to them about who Planned Parenthood is and what the real emergencies are - improving access to family planning health care services and providing comprehensive sex education for teens so that together we can prevent the number of unintended pregnancies in Texas.
At the end of the day, participants converged outside the South entrance of the Capitol and held a spontaneous flash mob demonstration in support of Planned Parenthood. Then supporters moved to the Congress Ave. entrance to show all of Austin who they stand with.
