Get Involved in Austin
The majority of Americans agree that we each have the right to full access to the information and services we need to make safe and responsible decisions about sex and reproduction. Elected officials do listen to their constituents, so it is important that we use every opportunity to make our voices heard on important reproductive rights issues. There are many ways in which you can help!
1. Volunteer at Planned Parenthood Planned Parenthood has an ongoing need for volunteers for one time events, as well as regular weekly, and monthly volunteering. Click here for more information.
2. Get More involved with the Action Network Sign up for our Action Network email list today!
Planned Parenthood of the Texas Capital Region is looking for people who share our beliefs and will speak up!
We need pro-choice advocates who share our commitment to promote comprehensive, age-appropriate, medically accurate sexuality education; to provide affordable reproductive health care; and to protect a woman's right to make personal, private decisions in consultation with her doctor, her God, and her family.
One of our goals for PPAN is to enable our members to use their already-powerful voices for political and social action. Whether it is a statewide Lobby Day at the Capitol, an opportunity to volunteer at a Planned Parenthood event, an e-mail alert urging you to write your elected officials, or an announcement about a public hearing on health care, we do our best to keep you informed and involved.
Most recently, we have called on our supporters to
* Attend a visibility event in response to the April 2007 Supreme Court decision. * Participate in Lobby Day * Contact the State Health and Human Services Commission to oppose the use of family planning funding for anti-choice crisis pregnancy centers. * Support the City Council's "no refusals" amendment to its pharmaceutical services contract with Walgreens. * Attend an all-day, action-packed Live Action Camp to learn the basics of grassroots organizing.
3. Vote! Make your voice heard at the Capitol and City Hall by registering to vote.
