Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our 2009 Public Affairs Dinner! With nearly 900 guests and an exciting live auction, the 2009 Choice for Generations Public Affairs Dinner was a tremendous success. Our preliminary numbers indicate that more than $500,000 was raised to support the health and education provided by our clinics. See photos from the dinner below.
Thank you to former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright for serving as our keynote speaker; State Senator Kirk Watson for serving as our Master of Ceremonies; Ken Stein, Executive Director of the Paramount Theatre, for serving as our live auctioneer; event co-chairs Cheryl and Jim George, Dana and Todd George, and Katie George Hallberg for their outstanding leadership efforts; and to our event committee and host families for making the event so successful.
Madeleine K. Albright is Chair of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm. In 1997, Dr. Albright was named the 64th Secretary of State of the United States and was the first female to hold that post, the highest ranking woman in the history of the U.S. government at the time. From 1993 to 1997, Dr. Albright served as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations and as a member of the President’s Cabinet. She is the first Michael and Virginia Mortara Endowed Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. Dr. Albright earned a B.A. with Honors from Wellesley College, and Master’s and Doctorate degrees from Columbia University’s Department of Public Law and Government. Dr. Albright is author of three New York Times best-sellers, with a new book to be released this Fall entitled READ MY PINS: Stories from a Diplomat's Jewel Box (Harper), in which Secretary Albright shares the compelling and often humorous stories behind her unique pin collection, and explains how pins became, for her, a signature diplomatic tool.
