Did you know? Texas law gives each school district a great deal of “local control” in its approach to sex education. Unfortunately, the Texas Freedom Network Education Fund’s recent study revealed that more than 96 percent of Texas school districts utilize a strict abstinence-only approach to sex education.
This is wildly out of step with public opinion in Texas, where polls show an overwhelming majority of parents prefer that schools emphasize abstinence while also giving teens medically accurate information about condoms and other methods of responsible pregnancy and disease prevention.
