Planned Parenthood of Hidalgo County is available for group presentations. These presentations are provided in homes, community centers, schools, faith-based centers and social service agencies, with 30 minute to 2 hour sessions.
Presentations can be customized for groups and topics can include:
- PPAHC’s services
- General Reproductive Health Care (including pelvic exams, vaginal infections and breast care)
- birth control
- STD/STI prevention
- women’s preventive health
- men’s preventive health
- how to talk with your children/parents about sex
- puberty for boys and girls

Family Communication Workshops
These 3 hour interactive sessions are provided in English and Spanish to bring parents/caregivers and their child/teen together and learn about healthy sexuality and healthy habits. Separate sessions are available for puberty age boys and girls and teens; topics include anatomy, hygiene, enhancing communication, healthy habits, decision making, and for teens only- birth control and STD prevention.
Sessions in English for the public are typically held during the summer. Special sessions in English or Spanish can be arranged for groups of 10 or more families. To view upcoming workshops, please click here.
PPAHC also has a resource center which is located at our education/administration office at 916 East Hackberry Street in McAllen. The center has brochures, videos, birth control kits and other materials to review or check-out. A deposit may be required to check out some items.
