Birds & Bees Bash!

On March 14, 2015 Planned Parenthood of Santa Barbara, Ventura & San Luis Obispo Counties, Inc. held the Birds and Bees Bash at the Coral Casino. It was a magical evening featuring Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and PPSBVSLO’s new President & CEO Jenna Tosh. The Jean K. Schuyler Award for outstanding volunteerism was presented to Joan Wells. A special guest appearance was made by a President Obama impersonator, Reggie Brown. It was great fun, and nearly $190,000 was raised to support PPSBVSLO’s programs and services.

Annual Book Sale

Thanks to the amazing support of community members, over $149,000 was raised through the sale of books, sponsorships, donations, gift certificates and opening night reception fees. This was a best year ever!

All year long, hundreds of volunteers donate their valuable time to sort and price books and appraise and price rare and collectible books. Before the sale, they shift thousands of boxes of books — from the sorting site to Earl Warren Showgrounds. During the sale, they set up tables and serve as cashiers and floor people. After the sale, they are there to break it all down.

Books are sorted and priced throughout the year in preparation for the sale. If you would like to volunteer during the year or work at the sale itself, call (805) 722-1527.

Books for the 2015 sale can be taken to the book sorting site located at 721 E. Gutierrez St. in Santa Barbara (located between Nopal and Quarantina Streets). We accept DVDs, video tapes and books on tape. We do not accept encyclopedias or magazines. Please box or bag your books before placing them in the donation trailer.

The 2015 Book Sale Opening Night Reception is Thursday, September 17, 5:00 - 9:00 pm.  $25 admission opening night only.

The Book Sale is free and open to the public.
