Remembering Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest in your will, trust, or with a life income gift is one of the most meaningful contributions you can make.

There are many benefits of a planned gift:

  • You make the decisions, and your legacy of support makes an impact on the future of patients in our region.
  • You can make a donation now that won't negatively impact your current cash flow, lifestyle, or family security.
  • You can choose a gift that could provide you with income for life and potential special tax benefits.

For more information about joining the Legacy Circle, or if you've already named our affiliate in your will, please contact the Development department at 619.881.5075 or [email protected].

Bequest a Dollar Amount or Asset

Your estate includes anything you own or have control over. It can be the equity in your house, your retirement accounts, a business, or proceeds of a life insurance policy. Or it can be stock and appreciated securities, tangible personal property, and real estate.

You can establish a bequest of a specific amount, specific asset, or all or part of the property remaining in your estate after debts, expenses, and specific bequests are paid. If you would like to make such a gift to Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, your attorney may wish to include language similar to the following:

"I give, devise and bequeath to Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest or its successor, now or formerly located at 1075 Camino del Rio South, San Diego, CA 92108, a gift of ($____ or _____ percent of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate), to be used for its general purposes."

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is a contract between the donor and Planned Parenthood. The donor transfers property, cash, or appreciated securities in exchange for a fixed dollar payment for life, or for the life of a second person, if desired. A portion of the income will be free from federal income tax.

A minimum gift of $10,000 and minimum beneficiary age of 60 are required for a single-life immediate annuity and the gift annuity payout rate is determined by your age.

For example:

Donor: Age 77

Gift Amount: $20,000

Annuity Rate: 5.8%

Annual Annuity Payments: $1,160 per year for your lifetime

Calculated in June 2021 using annuity rates adopted by the American Council on Gift Annuities.

Charitable Remainder Trust, Pooled Income Funds

These are other planned giving options that can provide you with payment for the rest of your life, with the remaining funds passing to Planned Parenthood.
