Helping people take pride of their health by providing free condoms

St. Paul, MN —Inspired by conversations about the role of safe sex in public health, Planned Parenthood North Central States (PPNCS) was honored to partner with ONE Condom to sponsor Twin Cities Pride last weekend by providing over 10,000 free condoms. The condoms were available June 23 through June 25 at the PPNCS booth and information booths at Loring Park, which historically have seen over 400,000 attendees. PPNCS also partnered with artist Ry Macarayan, who got their degree at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, to design a special edition condom wrapper for Pride.

“We empower people to take care of their sexual health and are delighted to partner with One Condom to provide free condoms for Pride,” said Ruth Richardson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood North Central States. “Beyond birth control and protection, Planned Parenthood provides vital health care services for people of all sexual orientations, gender expressions, and gender identities.”

Additional sexual health care materials, like internal dams, were available at the Planned Parenthood booth. Physical barriers like condoms and internal dams can help reduce the spread of STIs.

“As a queer-owned business, pride is in our DNA!” said Milla Impola, director of communications at ONE® Condoms. “Last year, ONE® Condoms became the first-ever condom company to receive FDA clearance for anal sex, a critical advancement for sexual health equity. We’re thrilled to partner with Planned Parenthood North Central States in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community at Twin Cities Pride. Health isn’t political. It’s a right.”

Planned Parenthood provides a wide range of reproductive and sexual health services, including cervical and breast cancer screenings, contraception care, sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment, HIV testing, PrEP and PEP, immunizations, pregnancy testing, emergency contraception, gender-affirming care including hormone management, and abortion information and options.
