Barb Hill Youth Education Fund

Barb Hill was a fierce advocate for Planned Parenthood and for the youth of the Battle Creek community. PPMSM is proud to establish the Barb Hill Youth Education fund to provide comprehensive, medically accurate sexuality education to those who need it most.

Barb led the charge to expand our education programs into Battle Creek in the early 1990s and was among the first and longest supporters of our now award-winning and nationally recognized teen peer education program, Project T.R.U.S.T. This fund will be designated to providing educational youth programs and services to teens in the Battle Creek community.

Born Barbara Knapp in 1937 in Battle Creek, Barb married Jerry Hill in 1957. She died at the age of 74 on May 5, 2012 after a long, courageous battle with heart disease. Throughout the course of  her amazing life, Barb was devoted to volunteerism and service to her community. She was the first female chairman of the Battle Creek Community Foundation and was a driving force in the creation of Kellogg’s Cereal City USA. She served in leadership positions at S.A.F.E. Place of Battle Creek, the American Lung Association, and Planned Parenthood of Southwest Michigan. Her work with youth through Planned Parenthood has made a positive impact on many lives, and we are honored to establish this fund to celebrate Barb’s tremendous service and the priceless contributions she made to ensure health and safety in her community.
