Religion and reproductive freedom are not always thought to be compatible. There is a   misconception that—despite preventive care constituting 93% of our services—communities of faith unanimously oppose organizations dedicated to the mission of reproductive freedom. This is just untrue.  And clergy members like Rev. Katherine Schofield, board member of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), play an important role in breaking these stereotypes and helping women access reproductive care and information, often during difficult moments.

“The California RCRC offers a counter narrative to the idea that the faith community is against reproductive choice.  We respect the dignity of every person, and empower individuals with the information and support they need to take responsibility for their own reproductive health,” explains Rev. Schofield.

Here at Planned Parenthood, our commitment is to every woman, man, or teen who needs us—no matter what.  We are proud to have coalition partners like RCRC who echo our values; as Rev. Schofield says, “The guiding principle I always lean on is the blessedness of all human beings, regardless of background or present circumstances. This is the reason I am pro-choice.”
