Planned Parenthood in Louisiana is expanding our education and outreach services. As the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health provider, PPGC health centers provide contraception, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and life saving cancer screenings at low cost. We also provide medically accurate and comprehensive health and sexuality education. Our focus is to inform and educate our community on prevention, general reproductive health, personal-decision making and healthy relationships.
We believe that education empowers people to take control of their lives and to take responsibility for their actions so they can live and love the way that is best for them. Health care is one piece of the puzzle, but we also recognize that education services are vital to our community.
PPGC has developed a comprehensive education strategy to expand our programming with other partners, churches, nonprofits and community members. Our education offers a menu of services to our communities. We believe that sexual health education should be realistic and community-centered, which is why PPGC staff work with community leaders to assess the need in their community and brainstorm solutions.
Our education goal is to encourage families to talk and practice safe and healthy behavior.
We define healthy people as individuals who: express love and intimacy in appropriate ways; avoid manipulative relationships, take responsibility for their own decisions and understand consequences; communicate with family and friends; talk to their partner about sexual activity before it occurs; plan for reproductive health and disease prevention; and seek more information about their health as needed.
Our mission is to educate people, so they can do what's right for themselves, their bodies and sexuality, and make responsible and healthy choices.
A community where all children are wanted and cared for; all women and have equal rights and dignity; sexuality is expressed with honesty, equality, and responsibility; and the decision to bear children is private and voluntary.
Together, we are working with our communities towards better health.
