Medication abortion is available and accessible as we await a ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court Case.

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case attempting to limit access to mifepristone ensures that for the time being, the regimen for medication abortion remains unchanged. In response to the Court’s decision, Erica Wilson-Domer, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, released the following statement:

“While we wait for the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to hear the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. U.S. Food and Drug Administration case, it’s important to remember that mifepristone is safe and effective. More than five million people have used mifepristone since the FDA approved it more than 20 years ago. This case is a calculated attack meant to restrict abortion access, and cause chaos and confusion.

“Reproductive rights were enshrined into the Ohio Constitution last week, but the fight for our rights and our freedoms is far from over. Patients deserve to access the medication they need, and providers should be able to provide that medication without unnecessary interference. We hope SCOTUS will recognize that.

“Abortion, including medication abortion, is legal in Ohio. Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio will ensure patients can continue to access the abortion method of their choice with as few barriers as possible.”
