To protect our patients and staff during the COVID-19 crisis, we are now offering telehealth services to reduce in-person visits.

This means you can have a virtual visit with a Planned Parenthood medical provider and get the services you need from your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

Make an appointment online or call 1-800-230-PLAN if you need assistance navigating care.

How it Works

Telehealth provides patients with "face-to-face" appointments where you meet online with one of our Planned Parenthood medical providers. For Telehealth appointments, you don't need to come into the health center — you'll be connecting from separate locations via a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Schedule an appointment online or call 1-800-230-PLAN to make an appointment with the health center that’s most convenient for you.

2.  Planned Parenthood Great Plains will email you instructions for your telehealth appointment.

3.  You'll join a Planned Parenthood medical provider in a secure videoconferencing room and conduct a "face-to-face" online visit.

4.  If you need a prescription, visit any of our Planned Parenthood health centers to pick up your medication.

Tips for a Successful Visit

  • Find a quiet, secure room to conduct your visit

  • Use earbuds or headphones to help protect your privacy

  • Ensure there is bright lighting on your face (Don't sit with your back to a window; it may ruin the lighting)

  • Try to use a stable Wi-Fi or cell connection when possible.

Services

Most appointments can be conducted via Telehealth video or phone calls. The contact center or your Planned Parenthood provider will inform you if you need to come into a health center to pick up prescriptions or lab work in person.

Our team of medical providers can offer translation services.

Safe, Secure & Easy

Telehealth uses an easy-to-use videoconferencing platform that meets all HIPAA and federal security guidelines. Patients need access to a device with a web camera, mic and speakers, and reliable Internet connection.

To ensure privacy, please conduct your visit in a place that is secure and will keep your information private and confidential. Your Planned Parenthood provider will be conducting your video conferencing visit in a secure room to maintain your privacy and confidentiality.

Frequently Asked Questions

You ask, we answer.

How much will my telehealth visit cost?

It varies. Your telehealth visit may be free or low cost with health insurance, although some insurance plans don’t cover all sexual and reproductive health services. The staff at Planned Parenthood Great Plains’ (PPGP) health centers work hard to give you the services you need, whether or not you have insurance. Many charge less for services, depending on your income. When you contact your local health center and make your telehealth appointment, you’ll learn more about specific costs. The staff may be able to help you get care you can afford.

Which services can I get through telehealth?

Telehealth services vary from health center to health center, but you may be able to get services such as birth control, STD testing and or treatment, gender-affirming hormone therapy, PEP, PrEP, and emergency contraception (the morning-after pill). Counseling or education information may also be available.

Will my telehealth visit be private?

Yes. Just like when you visit PPGP for a health care appointment in person, your telehealth appointment will be private. And make sure to find a quiet, well-lit, private space on your end for your telehealth visit.

Can I have my telehealth visit in Spanish?

We're working to offer Spanish telehealth services across the country. In the meantime, please contact your local health center to see what translation services are available in your area.

How soon can I get a telehealth appointment?

Waiting times vary by health center. Meanwhile, check out some of our convenient online tools like chat/text and Roo for your sexual and reproductive health care questions. You may be able to get answers immediately.

Can I still utilize telehealth if I am a minor?

We are not able to provide services via telehealth to minors at this time. Please call 1-800-230-PLAN to connect with your local health center to discuss other options.

Do I have to live near a Planned Parenthood health center in order to book a telehealth appointment?

You can access telehealth from anywhere in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. For telehealth appointments, you don’t need to come into the health center — you’ll be connecting from separate locations via a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. You will be able to discuss options with your Planned Parenthood provider if you need to come into a health center to pick up prescriptions or lab work in person.

Can I do my telehealth appointment over the phone if I don’t have access to the internet?

It is required that all patients participate in video visits using either a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

If you are unable to access any of these devices, please call 1-800-230-PLAN to connect with your local health center to discuss other options.
